Money
The official currency of Romania is LEU. Foreign currency can be exchanged in hotels, banks or at the exchanged houses. The exchange rates vary according to the locations were the transaction is effected. The foreign currency exchange is illegal an not recommended to be effected in other locations the ones mentioned

As time goes by credit cards begin to be widely accepted in Romania. Within Bucharest, most major hotels, restaurants and shops accept Visa or MasterCard. Just in case, ask before counting on credit card payment for accommodation, meals or any kind of purchases.
